What do you give the person who doesn’t need anything? Obviously something they don’t need. Hopefully something meaningful and unique. With Valentine’s Day coming up I thought it would be fun to explore some options other than chocolate and jewelry.
My recommendation: engraved gifts. An engraved message shows you took time composing or selecting just the right words and your gift, like the sentiment, is made to last.
Engraved garden stones are fun to give and receive. You can have stones of any size custom engraved with your own message, or get a prefabricated design. One of my favorite custom messages was from a soldier in Iraq for his family. He had “I am your rock” engraved on a huge boulder and installed in the yard so they could see it everyday while he was deployed overseas. The wife of an avid gardener commissioned a garden stone for her husband that said, “You rock my world.” Say anything you want.

I bought a garden stone for my mother that says, “Grandma’s Garden.” It adorned her flower garden for many years, and even though she’s no longer with us, the garden and the stone remind us all of her love.

You can have bottles of wine custom etched with names, dates and special messages. We have given them to employees in gratitude for jobs well done and they make excellent wedding, anniversary and engagement gifts. Think how romantic it will be to pop the cork on a very special bottle after popping a very special question!
What are some meaningful gifts you have given or received?
